Reflections on my summer: A journey of highs and lows
My time at Lake of the Woods was so much more than just working at a camp. It was a time of immense joy, unexpected challenges, and profound personal growth.

Saying goodbye: Bonds that grew
One of the most emotional moments of my summer was saying goodbye to my incredible campers after both the first and second sessions. It was truly bittersweet to see them go, reminiscing on how much they had changed since I first met them. The bonds we formed, the laughter we shared, and the growth I witnessed in each of them filled my heart. It's a feeling I'll carry with me always. I am so thankful to have met such wonderful little girls, and that I got the opportunity to have an impact on their experience and growth.

American adventures: On the open road
During our days off, exploring America was an unforgettable experience. Driving through vast and varied scenery, so different from England, was absolutely breathtaking. Each journey was an adventure, a chance to see more of this incredible country and create lasting memories with new friends. These road trips truly added another dimension to my summer camp experience.

A strong support system: My camp family
Walking around camp day-to-day, stopping to chat with everyone, made me feel incredibly supported. The friends I made became like family, creating a strong network of encouragement and understanding. This sense of community, knowing I had such a wonderful support system, was invaluable and made every challenge feel surmountable.
My summer at camp was more than just a job; it was a journey of rediscovery, reminding me exactly who I am and what I'm capable of.
My Future
Being around children of so many different ages, abilities and personalities gave me the opportunity to observe human behaviour in a very natural and unfiltered environment. No two children were the same, and seeing how indicidually themselves they were made me appraciate just how complex and unique human behaviour is. Being able to play a part in their experiences was incredibly fulfilling. Whether it was supporting them through a difficult moment, or simply being someone they could trust, I felt what i was doing had a genuine purpose. The experience has reinforced my love for understanding people.
