Behind the Scenes
Welcome to the parts behind the camp fun. Here, I'll pull back the curtain and share the raw, honest moments that made the experience truly unforgettable.

Staff week: When counsellors became campers
Before the campers arrived, there was staff week – a whirlwind of training, team-building, and pure, unadulterated fun. It was a unique time when we, the counsellors, got to be the kids again, playing games, forging friendships, and setting the stage for the incredible summer ahead. This crucial period was about getting to know each other, understanding our roles, and building a cohesive unit, all while experiencing the joy of camp life ourselves.

The first days: From apprehension to unforgettable bonds
When the children finally arrived, there was a mix of excitement and apprehension among the staff. Many of us felt unsure, facing the reality of our responsibilities. But within a day or two of settling in, those feelings quickly faded. Building bonds with the children became effortless and incredibly rewarding, despite the constant demands. Every day brought new challenges, from soothing late-night homesickness and navigating clashing friendships to handling difficulties around food and activities. It was a constant learning curve. The routine involved supervising and interacting with your cabin of children at almost all hours of the day. We only departed when it was time to teach a 5-period day of activities.

The emotional rollercoaster: Why every moment was worth it
Some days, it felt like there was nowhere to run; we were constantly overloaded with responsibilities and emotional demands. Yet, the deep sense of connectedness and the genuine smiles on the children's faces made every single minute worthwhile. The entire experience was an emotional rollercoaster, filled with laughter, tears, and profound growth. If there's one thing I want you to remember from this page, it's how profoundly emotional the whole summer camp journey truly was – a journey I wouldn't trade for anything.
