Insight on the Highlights

Welcome to Camp Life, a collection of memories from my unforgettable summer at camp. Join me as I reflect on a summer that shaped me in unexpected ways.

Connecting across continents

One of the most incredible parts of camp was meeting new people from all over the world. It's amazing how quickly you can form deep bonds when you're sharing such a unique experience. These instant connections made every day an adventure, filled with laughter and shared dreams. The friendships formed were nothing short of pure and fulfilling and you're gifted with a place to stay.

Although, one of the biggest challenges was the lack of alone time. Living and working closely with so many people meant that I had to learn how to manage my emotions, be patient and stay positive, even when it was difficult. Being with like-minded people, sharing the exact same emotions made this more manageable- never being alone soon became a blessing rather than a challenge to overcome.

The thrill of the waterfront

My days working on the waterfront were truly magical. From the intense lifeguard training that pushed my limits to the joy of overseeing activities by the water, every moment was invigorating. There's a special kind of freedom that comes with being by the lake, and I loved every second of it. Despite the early morning lifeguard drills twice a week, the endless duck-dives and the long days lifeguarding, there was no better place to be. I spent my days Paddleboarding down the coves, riding on the boats and assisting with fishing and swimming. The waterfront was always filled with joy.

Living in a cabin with 12 children and 3 counsellors was definitely something I had to adapt to. Working on the waterfront offered much needed peace.

Dancing outside my comfort zone

Stepping outside my comfort zone was a big part of my camp experience, especially when it came to performing infront of others. Improving my confidence was one of my main goals throughout this experience. In no time, i found myself performing dance routines with my co-counsellors for all the kids. It was exhilarating, a little bit terrifying, and incredibly rewarding. These moments of bravery created some of my fondest memories. Seeing my girls be proud of their counsellors and cheering us on, made it all so worth it no matter how nervous I felt. The more I put myself forward, the easier it became. This showed me that I am capable of so much more than I thought.
